A darling South African, Oxalis hirta blooms big with one-inch, yellow-throated, rich rose-pink trumpet flowers. Surprisingly drought-tolerant, it needs no summer water because fall and winter are its time for blooming atop its soft cushion of soft green leaves. Fall rains bring it to life, giving you color when you’re experiencing withdrawal! Though its name is Oxalis, never fear, this one will stay put, increasing ever-so-slowly. In fact, you’ll want it to spread more than it does. Lovely in a pot, especially if your zone is a little too cold for it.
